Perfect double: Second Emmy for Red Bull Air Race!

For the second consecutive year WEST4MEDIA is celebrating an Emmy. "It's wonderful if you can win such a prize just once in your life. Twice is sensational," said Managing Director Alexander Strohmer somewhat sleepily given the time difference. The Red Bull Air Race, which has been produced by WEST4MEDIA since 2005, picked up the coveted trophy for the second time in succession at the 31st Annual Sports Emmy Awards Show.

The Red Bull Air Race, which has been produced by WEST4MEDIA since 2005, picked up the coveted trophy for the second time in succession at the 31st Annual Sports Emmy Awards Show.

An Emmy Award is the TV equivalent of an Oscar, meaning it is the world's most sought-after prize for recognition of achievement in television. The American broadcaster Fox Sport Network (FSN) has been airing WEST4MEDIA's product since 2006.

The ‘who is who' of American sport television gathered for the gala event at the prestigious Frederick P. Rose Hall in the Time Warner Center in New York. The leading names in TV from across the US were all on hand to celebrate the exceptional sport productions from last year.

"It's unbelievable that an Austrian TV production can receive such an award in the home country of television. I am proud to be able to stand eye to eye with the giants of US broadcasting. It truly does go to show what is possible," added Strohmer.

The National Television Academy has honoured the company for its complex and unique production of the Red Bull Air Race in High Definition. The coverage of the races, in which pilots fly at speeds up to 370 km/h and g-forces up to 12 g just metres above the ground, represents one of the greatest challenges in the world of sport television. Over the last four years WEST4MEDIA has been able to continuously implement innovations in terms of technology and content together with its partners - particularly the German broadcast experts SiVision, the Swiss air pioneers Sky Media and Riedel Communications. The pictures produced by WEST4MEDIA are now shown in over 100 countries worldwide.

For many years now WEST4MEDIA has coordinated an international team of specialists, which has gone on to rapidly make the race series the benchmark in sport TV. In 2010, Strohmer and his team will produce eight races from locations around the world, including New York, Abu Dhabi, Rio de Janeiro, Perth and Budapest.
